About The Position

ChargeAfter is pioneering the embedded lending network for point-of-sale consumer financing for merchants and financial institutions. Powered by a network of lenders and a data-driven matching engine, ChargeAfter streamlines the distribution of credit into a single, secure, and reliable embedded lending platform.

As we continue to build the next fintech unicorn, we are looking for a high-octane, results-oriented VP Sales to lead our sales organization. Reporting directly to the CBO, you will be responsible for scaling our outbound engine, accelerating deal velocity, and building a world-class sales structure. We need a leader who can balance strategic growth—transitioning from direct sales to partner-led motions—with the "roll-up-your-sleeves" mentality required in a high-growth startup.

Role Mission

  • Build a Predictable Engine: Establish a robust outbound sales motion targeting mid-market and enterprise merchants within the retail and Home Improvement ecosystems.
  • Drive Execution: Improve win rates and close velocity by implementing rigorous deal management and clear execution standards.
  • Scale the Team: Lead, coach, and level up the current sales team while recruiting top-tier talent to meet aggressive growth targets.
  • Future-Proof the Motion: Lay the foundation for partner-influenced and partner-led distribution (via processors, ISVs, and lenders).

Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Own the full sales lifecycle for enterprise and mid-market segments, ensuring a healthy balance of inbound and proactive outbound pipeline.
  • Personally source and navigate a select number of high-stakes strategic opportunities to prove the motion and leverage key industry relationships.
  • Implement a structured weekly operating cadence, ensuring forecast accuracy, pipeline hygiene, and clear next steps for every deal.
  • Design and manage scalable commission and deal-credit models that align incentives across inbound, outbound, and shared/partner deals.

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Directly manage the AE team, providing hands-on coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Standardize the "ChargeAfter Way" of selling—from account targeting and multi-threading to navigating complex procurement and security hurdles.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, high energy, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Solutions Engineering, Product, and Marketing to ensure the "voice of the customer" informs the product roadmap and collateral.
  • Work with Customer Success to ensure seamless handoffs and long-term value realization for enterprise clients.

Requirements

  • 10–18 years of B2B sales experience, with a significant focus on mid-market and enterprise segments.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success closing complex platform deals in the $100K to $5M ARR range.
  • Outbound Expertise: A master of pipeline creation; you don’t wait for leads—you build the sequences, events, and partner hooks to generate them.
  • Startup Leadership: Experience building and scaling a small AE team within a growth-stage or startup environment.
  • Domain Depth: Strong background in Fintech, Payments, Embedded Finance, or selling into Home Improvement/E-commerce ecosystems.
  • Complexity Management: Expert at navigating long sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders (Legal, InfoSec, Procurement).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with partner-led or partner-influenced sales motions.
  • Strong familiarity with the Home Improvement/Home Services OEM and Private Equity landscape.
  • Knowledge of API-based integrations and enterprise system architecture.

Who You Are

  • An Engine Builder: You add structure without adding bureaucracy.
  • A Crisp Operator: You run tight deal plans and know exactly where every opportunity stands.
  • A Collaborative Leader: You build bridges internally to ensure your team has the resources to win.

Why Join ChargeAfter

  • Build the Engine: Lead the sales strategy and build the outbound playbook for a fast-growing Fintech leader.
  • Market Impact: Work with the category leader in embedded lending, partnering with top global merchants and financial institutions.
  • Strategic Leadership: Report directly to the CEO with full ownership over team growth, revenue velocity, and our transition to partner-led motions.
